    Finishing touches

    Education 0 Comment »

This is the day before your presentation. You should have pre-arranged to present on a Monday so that you have two free days before it for the finishing touches. If you are presenting a skit or a dance and you have a class before the subject, ask to be excused. There is no need to get an excuse if you are presenting any of the other projects.
Check that the entire team is there, that the props are in place and the equipment and tools operating. Test the microphone, video and karaoke. Inquire into the list of guests, if there are any. Read your cues more thoroughly. Someone in the team should be in charge of simple refreshments for your teacher and the guests and should make them ready beforehand. Ask the help of the school’s utility personnel for chairs, tables, cleaning tools and physical assistance.
Apply varnish on your finished woodcraft. Polish it well. Linen craft should be folded neatly and all loose threads cut. Cooking utensils, equipment and tools must be cleaned well and repaired if defective.

    Reviewing the project

    Education 0 Comment »

At least two days before the presentation, the finished product should be reviewed. Check all the details against your guide. See that all these details are in the right places. Have everyone in your team take a good look or test on the project and see if any improvement can be done, assuming everything is in place. Ask a professional in the subject to give you his or her comments.
If you are presenting a skit, dance or song, check the classroom space which you will use as stage. If it has to be arranged in a particular way or some decorations or props have to be placed, ask permission from the teacher using it at that time. Or from the principal after all classes are finished.
If you are preparing a research paper for submission in two days, your drafts must all be in final form and only the final typing should be done. Prepare a one-page abstract and put this right after the title page or cover. Use a computer for the finest and easiest way of finalizing. As much as possible, type the work yourself and not entrust it to a paid typist. There can be errors and misses.
Your handicraft is virtually finished. Test it by actual use. Move every part and see if there is any looseness or tightness. Then make the necessary adjustments or repairs. Show it to your teacher for her last instructions or comments.

    Before the examination day

    Education 0 Comment »

Before dropping to sleep and upon waking up on the exam day, pray. Thank God for the chance and ask for His light and strength for this activity. Ask Him to keep you calm and without fear. Then trust Him and trust your own best effort.
A word about feelings. Hurt or angry feelings right before a major examination can prevent you from recalling and answering the questions well. If you lost something, your parents scolded you or someone hurt you and you cannot put the problem off your mind, see if you can do something quick but satisfactory about it before taking the exams. But leave enough time for you to absorb the effect of your solution. Oftentimes, the solution requires a confrontation which is almost always painful and heals slowly. It is a choice between confronting the hurt before or after the exams. If you do so before, at least you are doing something to solve it. If you reserve the confrontation till after you finish the exams, you are sure to be affected by it in your mind and heart during the exams. But of course there too is the risk of getting even more hurt if the confrontation happens before the exams. You cannot keep it off or “forget” it for a while. It is not subject to the control of the will. It affects the emotions or feelings which the will cannot tackle unless directly and sufficiently addressed. It is really a personal choice, but the danger of not tackling the problem before the exams is that you may really be procrastinating when you put it off.
